Our son, John and his son, Jacob, are in Alaska on a trip with the youth group of their church. What a deal, uh? I checked their blog this morning and saw this awesome picture of our oldest grandson in front of a glacier. I stole it and put it on this blog. Technology is great! Sometimes. :) I'm thrilled the guys have this opportunity. Kim called this morning and said she and the rest of the kids (four of them) will come to see us on the fourth. They will arrive in time for a cookout in the evening and then we will go somewhere for fireworks. I look forward to having them come. They live such a busy life that we don't get to share as much of life together as we would like.
Our life is like that....totally unpredictible. Yesterday morning, a lady at Curves asked what we were doing for the holiday. I told her we had no plans yet. Yesterday afternoon a friend called and invited us to a Fourth of July brunch at her home. Then today we learn that Kim and the kids are coming later that day. It's great....I love the unexpected. Keeps life interesting.
I tried to work outside this morning. I told myself that if I cleaned one garden spot each day, in a week or so, I'd have a clean yard. I got eaten up alive by the mosquitos and decided I'd let the weeds grow. Nuts to them. The frost will get 'em in the fall if I don't get them earlier. My oh my, has my attitude changed over the years. I used to freak out about my gardens...they had to be just so, until I realized that they took all my time and there were more important things to do. Call it lazy if you will, but I'm happier these days with less pressure from the perenials.
