My comfort in life and death

It is with deep regret that we, Gayle's children, share with you that on Nov. 4, 2009, our beloved mother went to be with her Lord. The following is an exerpt from mom's church bulletin for this Sunday:

Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Niece, Auntie, Mentor, dear friend, Child of God, Sister in Christ, Encourager, Leader, True Woman of God! All these are just a few of the many faces of the amazing woman we knew as Gayle DeVries. We will cherish our memories of Gayle in our hearts. Many of us are stronger in our faith and walk with God because of Gayle's influence in our life. Ken DeVries asked that this beautiful and bold statement regarding believers' only comfort be placed in the bulletin as a testimony of Gayle's faith.

Question 1: What is your only comfort in life and death?
Answer: That I am not my own, but belong - body and soul, in life and in death - to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven.
In fact, all things must work together for my salvation.
Because I belong to Him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.

Visitation services will take place Monday, Nov. 9, from 2 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, Nov. 10. Both services will be held at Community Christian Reformed Church, 10498 N. 450 E. Roselawn, IN.
